'ZEBRINUS'' Zebra grass. A long-time standby. Hinjo is a scaled down alternative for the smaller garden. Strictus is very similar and has the advantage of rarely needing staking. Zebrinus may flop when grown with lots ot water and fertilizer.

The lax green leaves have irregularly spaced horizontal bands of yellow variegation. Flowers copper tinted in mid-Sept, to 8'. Although the foliage is more graceful and the overall effect less formal than that of 'Strictus', this venerable old cultivar usually requires staking. It has been surpassed by the more compact 'Hinjo'.
